BBMP uses drones to spray disinfectant and sanitise major locations in Bengaluru

As much as we like complaining about the banes of technology, it has to come to our rescue during these testing times. One such recent example to be noted is the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) using drones to sanitise and spray disinfectant across locations in the city.

On Tuesday, 24th March, BBMP took up a sanitisation drive to disinfect central parts of Bangalore and area surround KR Market to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Mayor M Goutham Kumar who flagged of the sanitisation drive mentioned that the aim was to contain and prevent the spread across the 198 wards of the city.

BBMP also hired drones to spray Sodium hypochlorite solution and tested them in central parts of Bangalore as well as the areas where quarantined people reside. Other major public places like Town Hall circle, KR Market and Hudson Circle were covered too. Currently, tractors with a capacity to hold 6000-7000 litres of the disinfectant solution are being used with each vehicle containing 10 jetting machines. We hope the efforts pay off and we are able to contain Coronavirus successfully.
