Run by the forest department the Thangkharang Park is on the Mawsmai-Shella Road, around 2-3 km from Motrop. When we went inside the Park, we saw men asphalting the road and a couple of Khasi women sitting under a tree.
The Park offered a view of Bangladesh and housed some rare orchids, including Lady’s Slipper and the Pitcher Plant in its green house. I and Vij went to the highest point in the Park to get a closer glimpse of Kynrem Falls, which I will write in the next blog.
The Park was very clean with toilet facility. There were small kiosks outside where tourists were buying chips, cold drinks, cigarettes, tea/coffee and even drinks!
