‘As if the hurricane wasn’t enough’ alligator strolls Florida streets as Irma wreaks havoc

HURRICANE IRMA’S devastating winds have had another deadly consequence after an alligator was filmed strolling through Florida’s streets, says Daily Star. Read on:

The previously Category four storm hit the US mainland yesterday (September 10), with winds of up to 130mph and a rise in water levels leaving four million homes without power.

Irma – the most powerful ever Atlantic Ocean hurricane – already claimed the lives of 28 people as it tore its way across the Caribbean, prompting the mass evacuation of 6.3 million people.

And now, another terrifying consequence of the storm has come to light.

Footage posted to Twitter shows a deadly alligator on a Floridian street.

It casually saunters up a curb before scurrying down a verge and out of sight.

“There he goes, ‘I’m out of here’,” a stunned cameraman – filming from inside his car – says.

The clip has already garnered more than 450 retweets since it was uploaded yesterday evening (September 10).

“As if the hurricane wasn’t enough,” one said.

Another added: “Reason number one to evacuate.”

While a third commented: “Omg!! Something else they will have to deal with.”

The storm has now been downgraded to a category one, but forecasters have still warned of a danger to life with 100mph winds and torrential rain continuing to batter the Sunshine State.
