Charge-sheet filed by Bengaluru police against Kushboo describes her as a cheat who has duped 200 men using multiple identities and fake credentials. And, all this for just one reason: to enjoy the good life different level.
For you, she is Kushboo, for another she is Smriti, then Ishita for yet another, a 28-year old IAS officer, a Supreme Court advocate, and even an entrepreneur owning a multi-crore company as well. Talk about multi-tasking, and this woman defines it. But for all the wrong reasons. A charge-sheet filed a few days ago in which she is accused finally says she is a cheat who has conned a minimum of 200 people claiming to be an IAS officer, and an advocate. Her ‘business’ was transacted at all five-star hotels in the city, and all these victims are men who have fallen for her charms, thereby losing a lot of their money.
This woman has a notorious past where she even managed to rob a car from a businessman in Delhi. “In the Aadarsh Nagar car theft case in Delhi that took place in May 2015, she took a lift from a man from DCM near Ajmer Road. Later, she asked the man to take her to Raja Park. She became close with him while travelling. It was evening, and after reaching Raja Park, she was so open that she told him to bring some contraceptives from a shop if he was interested in sex with her. While the man got out of the vehicle, she drove away with the car. Then she was arrested and police teams from five different states travelled to Delhi looking for her,” a cop claimed.
The story of Kushboo Sharma is nothing less than a Bollywood potboiler of a woman who charmed her way into the world of crime. Kushboo Sharma alias Smriti Sharma has earlier been arrested by many police teams across the country for cheating and robbery.
Kushboo Sharma, a native of Jaipur in Rajasthan and a school dropout, used to pose as a Supreme Court lawyer, an IAS officer, CEO of a well-known software firm, a top celebrity and at times as the daughter of a politician to cheat her victims. She also had a fake citation from the former prinicpal of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, Dr. Valson Thampu, to impress her clients so she could do ‘high-class’ business (in pic).
In November 2016, Pulakeshi Nagar police arrested her for cheating advocate Sanketh Yenagi. Kushboo met Sanketh and introduced herself as a lawyer practising in the Supreme Court and expressed her wish to join his firm, the police said. After learning that Sanketh was looking for bigger office space, Kushboo offered to help him get an office on rent in UB City. She had also told Sanketh that her father was a retired IAS officer and owned a share in UB City.
Sanketh entered into an agreement with her and fixed the rent based on the percentage of profit he would earn from his work. She was residing in a paying guest accommodation in Indiranagar and had told the PG owner she was a lawyer. Then, she fled with the money and mobile phone of Sanketh. When he came to know about her, he complained to the police. When she again contacted him for negotiations, police arrested her.
Then, the whole drama unfolded about who Kushboo really was. According to police, she hails from Rajasthan, and after her parents were separated, she left home. She has a sister but there is no cordial relationship between the two. Then, she managed to obtain a fake law degree certificate and took to cheating people. She had different faces like that of an IAS officer, advocate, businesswoman, CEO of a software firm and many more.
Her target was men through Facebook. Showing the fake degree certificate, she forged business ties with people. Whomever she met, she became very close with as she spoke fluent English, a sign we normally assume is that of a bonafide person. She loved the good life and always tried to manipulate whomever she came in touch with, all using her attractive personality.
Kushboo has cheated people in Mumbai, Pune, Rajasthan and now in Bengaluru, police said. Pubs and restaurants at five-star hotels in Bengaluru were her favourite haunts, and she is famous for never paying the bill at any of these places. On the contrary, she used men to fulfil her financial needs.
So next time, you spot somebody like her, don’t rush in too fast. You could most likely be a sucker for punishment!
