Warning: Huge Game of Thrones Season 8, episode 3, The Long Night - spoilers ahead.
So, after the latest epic episode of the all-encompassing show which has basically replaced Brexit as the only thing that people can talk about, the only name on everyone's lips (again - remember that scene from last week?) was Arya Stark.
During the brutal 'Battle of Winterfell,' the big bad of the show, The Night King ( for those who don't watch the show; he's the big icy dude that you've probably seen on bus stop posters) was killed by the pint-sized hero played by Maisie Williams.
As you can imagine this was a huge moment for the show and a crowning moment for Arya, as a teenage girl literally saw off an ice zombie and saved the human race from certain death and nearly everyone celebrated like she had just won the World Cup.
This was mostly instigated by alt-right figurehead, Jack Posobiec, who called Arya a 'Mary Sue,' aka a female character that is deemed to be 'too perfect' and boring due to their lack of flaws.

Penciling in the eyebrows a tad thicker today in honor of Arya Stark— Karen Kilgariff (@KarenKilgariff) 29 April 2019
Notice that we used the word 'nearly' there and inevitably there was a backlash against this decision to have Arya kill The Night King and yes, we regret to report that those complaining about it are men.I knew she would be a fucking legend since this moment #AryaStark pic.twitter.com/6YFho1QIg7— ˗ˏˋ lena blake ˎˊ˗ (@octuniverse) 30 April 2019

Having Arya kill the Night King is like having R2D2 kill the Emperor— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) 29 April 2019
Plotless, unemotional, deux ex machina tumblr-tier writing
Calling HBO Game of Thrones fanfic is an insult to fanfic bc that at least has narrative consistency
Arya is a Mary Sue now because she upstaged the established protagonists Jon and Daenerys to defeat the Big Bad it has nothing to do with training https://t.co/xDNGHFPmKH— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) 29 April 2019
Rey is a Mary Sue— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) 29 April 2019
Captain Marvel is a Mary Sue
And now Arya is a Mary Sue
Unfortunately, he wasn't the only one repeating this sort of childish rhetoric.Arya is a Mary Sue now deal with it pic.twitter.com/SgPbnaNap1— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) 29 April 2019
There was too much episode there not to set that final moment up better. What happened between “encouraging words” and “awesome flying stab delivered directly to the most heavily defended guy on the field?” How did she get there? How did she get past all those dead?— Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) 29 April 2019
Ok, that has to be the worst Game of Thrones episode of all time. I mean, really? Fucking Arya? Why even bring back Jon snow? So fucking stupid. Thanks for building up the night king for 7 seasons just to do that lmao.— William Cox (@williamcox54) 29 April 2019
Thankfully there are some decent, logical and forward-thinking Game of Thrones fans on Twitter and a lot of people have come to Arya defence and elaborated on why she definitely isn't a Mary Sue.I use to like Arya Stark before last night’s episode of Game Of Thrones turned her into the ultimate Mary Sue.— Anthony B.
