The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has reiterated full readiness for solving the Gulf crisis through dialogue and in respect of sovereignty, which is a red line that should not be compromised.
The Emir further stressed his support for the invitation of US President Donald Trump to a meeting at Camp David for holding dialogue with the brothers to end the crisis within his commitment to find a solution to it.
In an interview with the Charlie Rose host of '60 Minutes' on CBS TV channel, which was broadcasted Monday dawn , the Emir expressed willingness to walks 10 thousand miles toward the brothers, if they walk one meters toward reconciliation.
The Emir said that he was "shocked" by the siege decision. There were no remarks earlier when the Emir participated in Riyadh meeting with the leaders of the siege countries in the presence of the US President to discuss the issue of terrorism and its finance.
The Emir denied the charges against Qatar, adding that the only reason for the siege is that the siege countries do not like Qatar's independence and its support for the freedom and dignity of the peoples and for freedom of speech in the region. He went on saying that Al Jazeera will not be shut down, adding that history will write one day in 50, 60 or 70 years how it changed the whole idea of free speech in the region.
Emir explained that the siege countries want to change the regime in Qatar, as they tried to do that before in 1996, with the view of making Qatar follow them and not remain an independent country.
The Emir warned that any attempt of military action will lead to chaos throughout the region, adding that President Trump assured him that his allies in the region would not be allowed to fight. The Emir further stressed that the siege countries have underestimated the Qatari people's ability to face the siege. His Highness expressed pride in his people, pointing out that Qatar has become stronger, and that Qatar after June 5 is different from Qatar before this date, affirming his pride in Qatar's history.
Responding to a question about Qatar's relation with Iran, the Emir said: "Iran is our neighbor. And we have more differences in our foreign policies with Iran, than the siege countries do. But when those countries, our brothers, blocked everything, blocked medicine, blocked food, the only way for us to provide food and medicine for our people was through Iran."
On the presence of a Taliban office in Doha, the Emir explained that the office was opened on a request from US in order to start dialogue with the movement in Qatar.
